Stephen Anthony Amsdell

Stephen Anthony Amsdell, 28 of Perrysburg, OH. and formerly of Oil City, PA. passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 3, 2013. He was born in Oil City on October 21, 1985 to Victor L. and Kathleen M. (Kay) Amsdell. In Stephen’s youth, he was very competitive and enjoyed playing football and baseball. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and making them happy. His large extended family was an important part of his life, with a special loving relationship with the young children. Stephen attended Cardinal Stritch High School and enrolled in Owens Community College where he took some classes. He had a tenderness and love for all animals, especially his dog, Charlie and parrot, Willie. He had dreams of working and helping animals in need. Stephen was a hard worker. He was employed for the last two years at Vehtek Systems, Inc. were he was a machine operator. Stephen is survived by his parents, Victor and Kathleen Amsdell of Perrysburg, OH.; brothers, Simon (Sarah) Amsdell of Rochester, NY. and Patrick (Jennifer) Amsdell of Holland, OH.; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Barbara Amsdell of Oil City, PA.; uncles, Ken (Theresa) Amsdell of Cherry Tree, PA., Daryl Amsdell of Oil City, PA., Kevin (Linda) Amsdell of Phoenix, AZ. and Mark (Beth) Amsdell of Johnstown, PA.; Aunts, Vicky (John) DePiore of Twinsburg, OH., Kimberly Amsdell of Oil City, PA., Martha Amsdell of Titusville, PA., Suzie (Bill) Bellante of Taylor, MI., Julie Kightlinger of Franklin, PA. and Mary (Bob) Deeter of Cooperstown, PA.; nieces, Elise and Adeline Amsdell and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Seth Thomas Amsdell; maternal grandparents, Mr. Martin and Mrs. Josephine Kay; paternal grandfather, Mr. Harry Amsdell; uncles, Thomas Kay, Michael Kay and Thomas Amsdell; aunt, Brenda Pevler; cousin, Luke Amsdell. Family and friends may be received at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home (419-874-3133) 222 East South Boundary St. Perrysburg, OH 43551 on Thursday, November 7 from 4:00 - 9:00 P.M. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 P.M. Prayers will be held on Friday, November 8 at 9:45 A.M. in the funeral home with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front St. Perrysburg. Family and friends may be received at Reinsel Funeral Home (814-677-3049) 116 Bissell Ave. Oil City, PA. 16301 on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 12:30 P.M.-2:30 P.M. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Those wishing to send an expression of sympathy in Stephen’s name may consider St. Rose Parish in Perrysburg, OH., St. Joseph Parish in Oil City, PA. or an animal rescue charity of donor’s choice.
