Stella R. Evanczuk

Stephania “Stella” R. Evanczuk, 100, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Providence Care Center, Sandusky, OH, surrounded by her loving family. Stella was born on February 16, 1917 in Fremont, OH, the daughter of Anthony and Katherine (Bojarski) Jadwisiak. On May 20, 1939, in Port Clinton, she married Michael Evanczuk and he preceded her in death on November 03, 1990. Stella worked at Philco Manufacturing in Sandusky, OH for over 30 years and then worked in the cafeteria at Port Clinton Jr. High School, until her retirement in 1978. She was the oldest of 9 children. She was a devout Catholic and was very active at Immaculate Conception Church. She spent most of her life caring for others. She cared for and reared her brother-in-law’s 3 children when their mother died. She cared for a neighbor, her brother’s wife and daughter when they each had MS. Stella was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers fan. She leaves her daughter, Patricia (Larry) Babb, grandchildren, Timothy (Jan) Gase, Michelle Gase, and Thomas Gase, as well as 8 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, her brothers Thaddeus and Casimir Jadwisiak, special nieces and nephews, Karen Evanczuk, Kathleen Evanczuk and Stephen Evanczuk, and many more nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael as well as her parents, Catherine and Anthony Jadwisiak, brothers; Stanley, Chester, John, Adolph, Edmund and Henry. Visitation will be 2-4 6-8PM, Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, where family prayers will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, February 20, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. Interment will be in St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, OH.
