The Lord took home Stanley Lane Wilson, age 59, of Genoa, on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. He was born June 5, 1956, in La Follette, Tennessee, to James Monday and Delsie (Wilson) Mefford. Originally from La Follette, Stanley spent many enjoyable hours on the farm with his grandparents, McKinley and Bessie Wilson, as he was growing up. Stan moved to Ohio in 1981 and began his career with the Ohio Department of Transportation at the Walbridge garage. Stan took great pride in participating in the Truck Rodeo, for which he won many awards. Stanley retired from ODOT in December 2012 after 30 years of service. Stanley graduated from La Follette High School in 1974. On May 5, 2001, in Oak Harbor, Ohio, he married Shari L. Sondergeld. He was a member of the Toledo Swiss Society and was an avid fan of the Tennessee Volunteers, the Cleveland Browns, draft horses and horse shows. Stan was a loving and likable person, whose smile and short stories will be missed by many. Stanley is survived by his loving wife, Shari, his mother, Delsie Mefford of La Follette, brothers, Greg (Kris) Monday, Randy (Susan) Monday, and sister, Lori (Rob) Gonzales of Monroe, MI, father and mother-in-law, Bob and Pat Sondergeld of Genoa, brother and sister-in-laws, Mark and Kim Geldien of Oak Harbor, and Jeff and Cheryl Sondergeld of Gibsonburg. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Alicia, Alana, Holden, Soren, Camden, Dylan, Mitchell, Katie, Brandon, Jimmy, Leslie, Allie, Jessica and Rissa. His brother, Pastor Darryl Mefford, step father, Clifford Mefford, and father, James Monday, preceded him in death. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2015, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 West St., Genoa, OH 43430. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Cross-Smith Funeral Home, 300 E. Central Ave., La Follette, TN, at 11:00 a.m. with additional visitation from 9-11 a.m. Burial will follow the service in Grantsboro Baptist Cemetery, La Follette.
