Stanley A. Janas

Stanley Anthony Janas, 93, of Perrysburg, died peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2017 surrounded by family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Haskins, Ohio on February 20, 1924 to Simon and Anna (Procek) Janas. He was very proud of his Czech heritage. Stanley graduated from Maumee High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He married his beloved wife, Rose E. McCarthy, in Toledo on September 1, 1951. Stanley had many jobs, including Toledo Pipe Threading, Pure Oil and finishing his career the last 30 years at The Anderson’s. Through the years, Stanley was active in the Knights of Columbus. He also served as an usher at St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg for over 50 years. Stanley enjoyed the outdoors; whether it be doing yardwork, gardening, or hunting pheasant. He was also a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers and Notre Dame. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose E.; children, John (Kris) Janas of Rossford, OH, Kathleen (Kevin) Rokavec of Dandridge, TN; special grandson, Ryan Janas of Rossford, OH; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Janas, Joe Janas; and sister, Mary Janas. Friends will be received on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, OH 43551 (419-874-3133), where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Saturday, May 20, 2017, beginning at 9:45 A.M. with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, OH. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Stanley’s name may be made to St. Rose Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E.
