Srirangam "Srini" Srinivasan

Srirangam “Srini” Srinivasan, 82, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 10, 1941, in Srirangam, an historic town, near Chennai (formerly Madras), India to Rangachari, his father, and Jayalakshmi, his mother.

After graduating from high school, Srini went on to study at Stoney Brook University on Long Island where he obtained his master’s degree in electrical engineering. He moved to Toledo in 1973 to work as an engineer for a number of years at SSOE, an engineering and architectural firm. He excelled in mathematics and computer science. In 1980, Srini was promoted to be a partner and eventually became one of the board of directors. He was much loved by his coworkers for his kindness and integrity. Srini was an avid reader, volunteered at a local hospital, and loved painting in water colors. He was a member of the Metroparks where he loved walking his dog, Sumo, at the park regularly as well as supported animal welfare organizations. Additionally, he was a student and board member of the Alliance Française de Toledo, and involved with the Multifaith Council. Srini was an avid supporter of the Jewish Federation, the Toledo Opera, and the Toledo Museum of Art.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Kamala Srinivasan, Toledo, OH; his brother, Srirangram (Shanta) Gopalan, of Bangalore, India; his nephews, Kaushik (Meena) Gopalan of Fremont, California and Suresh (Madhu); his nieces, Mala (Sridhar) of Bangalore, India; Nithya (Prabhu) of Katy, Texas; Jyothsana (Swarup) of Singapore; his brothers-in-law, Raj Narasimhan of Chicago, Illinois; and, Vasu Devan (Sumathy) of Chennai, India.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Padma, and his brother, Raghu.

Friends will be received for visitation on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 10 am to 1 pm at Walker Funeral Home at 5155 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio, 419-841-2422. Following the visitation, Srini's life will be celebrated at a memorial service from 1-2 pm, with the minister from St. Michael’s Church officiating, in addition to a Priest from the Hindu Temple. A luncheon will follow the service at 2 pm. His ashes will be interred at Ottawa Hills cemetery.
