Sophie E. Igo

Igo Sophie E. Sophie E. Igo, age 86, passed away Tuesday June 13, 2017 at Franciscan Care Center. The daughter of Carlos and Rushie, she was born November 18, 1930 in Covington, KY. She grew up on the Lickin River in Kentucky and later married Harry Igo in 1946. The two moved to Toledo in search of work. Sophie began work in a sewing factory and went on to work at a number of factors until she quit to raise her daughter. She started working again as a manager at a series of retail stores until her retirement. At the age of 74, she decided she was bored and took a job with Meijer until she retired again to care for her husband in his final years. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Igo. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Christine and Shirley. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave (west of Corey Rd) where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
