Shukri “Chuck” Fayek Shubeta, age 82, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 28, 1936 in Jaffa, Palestine to Fayek and Mary Shubeita. Chuck was a professional soccer player and avid sports fan. In 1957, Chuck moved to the United States of America to attend the University of South Carolina as an accounting major. In order to help pay for college, he began teaching ballroom dance. Chuck met Vivian Lee Harrison, they became National Ballroom Dance Champions, and started a beautiful family together. In 1970, Chuck became a proud Naturalized American Citizen. They moved to Ohio and raised their four children; Kim, Gina, Greg, and Jennifer. Chuck touched the lives of many from his days as a Dairy Bar Owner, to a Nationwide Insurance Agent, and was a philanthropist and a caring and generous friend. Chuck will be remembered by his friends and family as the elegant and graceful man dancing the night away. He leaves to cherish his memories; his children, Kim (William) Ankenbrandt, Gina Maria Shubeta, Gregory Shukri Shubeta, Jennifer (Brian) Shubeta-Harris; grandchildren, T’nesha Shubeta, Jordan Ankenbrandt, Taylor Shubeta, Bryce Harris, Morgan Shubeta, Charlie Harris; great-grandchild, Zane Fayek Shubeta-Shepler; and his beloved cat Minky. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Tuesday, August 14 from 4-8 pm with a Trisagion service at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, August 15 at 10 am in St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church 4940 Harroun Rd. Sylvania where funeral services will be held at 11 am.
