Shirley Jeanne Schaub Staifer entered eternal life on October 8, 2012. She was born on March 2, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Lawrence Charles Schaub and Pauline Rose Meyer. She married the love of her life, Daniel Staifer on September 15, 1951. They were married over 52 years at the time of Daniels passing in October, 2003. Shirley was an old fashioned homemaker for her husband and children and enjoyed pinochle with her family. She and Dan enjoyed hosting barbecues in the summer for family and friends. No one could beat Shirleys baked beanseven now. A member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod for 50 years, she loved worshipping the Lord, especially at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Sylvania, Ohio. In February 1995, she was accepted into membership of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the direct descendant of 3 Revolutionary War Patriots and proudly remained active in her Chapter to this day. Shirleys other passion was the Detroit Red Wings and she purchased the hockey channel every year to watch every game. She loved animals and rescued many cats and dogs over the years bringing them into her home and loving them back to health. Shirley loved to travel and was able to visit many places in Europe. After Daniels passing, she moved to San Diego, California, then to Fleming Island, Florida. One of the highlights of her travels was visiting Hollywood, California and the tour of the movie 6517 Brint Road, Sylvania, Ohio stars homes. She also loved visiting her Schaub ancestral home in Alsace, France. Dan and Shirley were blessed with two children, Cynthia David Addison and Daniel Victoria Staifer. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Daniel Lori Staifer, Derek Christina Staifer, Desiree Staifer, Venessa Jacobs and 2 great-grandsons, William Owen Staifer and Ian Diedrich Staifer. She is also survived by her cat, Puffie. Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. Sunday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue, west of Corey, where the VFW Auxiliary Post 2898 will conduct services at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, in the King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6517 Brint Road, Sylvania, Ohio. Entombment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
