Shirley M. Shields, 84, of Curtice, passed away, early Monday morning, October 15, 2012, at the Genoa Retirement Village. She was born April 12, 1928, in Lucas County, Ohio. On February 28, 1948, in Williston, Ohio, Shirley married Lindsey B. Shields, Jr. and he preceded her in death March 29, 2001. She was a homemaker, who loved working in her garden and watching birds, especially the cardinals. She enjoyed craft work, painting and crocheting afghans and items for her family. Surviving Shirley are her children, Linda S. Shessler of Curtice, Robert J. Pam Shields of Oregon, and Sandra L. Shields of Elmore, grandchildren, Malissa, Patrick, Andrew and Keith, great grandchildren, Alan, Brian and Hazel, brothers, Jim Evalyn of Williston, Don Marilyn of Traverse City, MI, and Gary Mary of Oak Harbor, and her best friend from school, Ethel, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Monk Vogtsberger, husband, Lindsey, brother, Clyde, sister-in-law, LaVonne, and step father, Carl Vogtsberger. Visitation will be 2-4- 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, OH. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012, in the funeral home followed by interment in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials for Shirley to the American Diabetes Association, 6800 W. Central Ave. Suite D1, Toledo, OH 43617; or the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist. #1, P.O. Box 154, Williston, OH 43468.
