Shirley J. Nichols, 82, of Perrysburg, OH passed away on, Tuesday September 23, 2014, in her home at Perrysburg Commons. She was born in Bowling Green, Ohio on March 30, 1932 to Charles and Ardinelle (Zimmerman) Meeker and married on May 9, 1952 to Robert W. Nichols who preceded her in death on June 30, 2013 as well as infant son, Robert Charles Nichols. Shirley was a homemaker and co-owned the Christian Book Store of Perrysburg with her husband, Robert. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Perrysburg and worked as a volunteer at the Baptist Center and Crisis Pregnancy Center both of Toledo, Ohio. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. A woman of faith and the heart of the Nichols’ family, Shirley shaped their spirituality by her Christian example. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and most of all treasured moments with her family. She is survived by her children, Debra Ostrander (Richard Clark), Joni (Dennis) Badik, Carolyn Heidelberg, and John (Andrea) Nichols; grandchildren, Mark, Janelle, Jodi, Mandy, Jaime, John, Heather, Jeremiah, Jason, Julie, Daniel, Amber, Jessica, and seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters; Marilyn Berres, Virginia Saam,, and Sharon Rzeznik. Friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. on Friday at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 27, 2014 with Pastor Jeff Woolum officiating. Burial to follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery.
