Shirley J. Houston

Shirley Jean Houston, 77, of Perrysburg, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Shirley was born June 16, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio to Kenneth and Alice (Gingrich) Hand. She married Edward Houston on August 18, 1962 and they shared 60 wonderful years together.

She worked as a school bus driver for Perrysburg Schools for 15 years and as a cake baker for 25 years. Shirley taught Sunday School, enjoyed shopping, listening to gospel music and spending time with her family. She was full of life and will be missed by all who knew her.

Along with her husband, Edward, Shirley is survived by her children; Pamela Lynn (Tim) Cogan, Edward Dale (Stacy) Houston, Jr., Kimberly Sue (Corey) Deane and Vern (Shelly) Houston; grandchildren, Cheryl, Michelle, Courtney, Kylie, John, Jessica, Brittany, Samantha, Cory, Gabrielle, Cutter and Brooke; many great-grandchildren and brother, Ken and sister, Lori. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made directly to the family to help with funeral expenses.
