Shirley Ann Downs, 91, of Maumee, went peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026. Born on March 18th, 1935, to her parents Elmer & Lillian Ferguson of Rossford, OH. Shirley was one of eight children. She enjoyed many years in Rossford, eventually graduating from Rossford High School. Shortly after graduating, she met the love of her life, Neil Downs. They were married on May 1st, 1954. They shared an amazing 65 years together before his passing in 2019. They settled in Maumee, OH where they raised two beautiful children together. Shirley was self employed her whole adult life; she wanted to be there for her children and enjoy in their activities they participated in. Her and Neil loved traveling together. They traveled to numerous beautiful places, her favorite was always Italy. Shirley was an avid reader, loved going to the movies, and always enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was a devoted member of Maumee United Methodist Church since 1957, where she made many long-lasting relationships. She could not go anywhere without knowing at least one person she came in contact with. She absolutely loved her family and was always there for them when needed. She will be missed by many, but left amazing and hilarious memories to all that have known her.

She also leaves behind her Uncle Larry, many nieces and nephews, neighbors she adored, and many friends she made throughout her life. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Neil Downs, her son Neil Downs II, her daughter Kelly Eckel, brothers Raymond Ferguson, Bruce Ferguson, Ron Ferguson; sisters Violet Geiber, Kathryn Staccone, Charlene Harris, and Judy Simmons; and numerous brother and sisters-in-law who she loved dearly.
