Shirley Ann Taylor, age 74, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. The daughter of Dewey and Mary (Spurlock) Meadows, she was born January 3, 1944 in Gainesboro, TN. She attended a one room school house her first five years of school. She then moved to Toledo in 1952 and attended Dorr Elementary and Holland High School. She married the love of her life and best friend, Denny Taylor, on July 18, 1964 at St. Jude in Toledo. Shirley and Denny joined St. Clement in 1967 and have been parishioners ever since. Shirley volunteered with the Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed working with the ladies and appreciated all of their prayers. Many of them became dear friends to her over the years. Shirley enjoyed gardening, puzzles and volunteering at St. Clement in various capacities. She was a member of the Bedford Garden Club. Shirley and Denny traveled extensively and developed fond friendships with John Christine Hammonds from Gibraltar. She will treasure the many great times on their cruises, trips and phone calls. Shirley would like to thank all of her family and friends who traveled with her and Scott for all the care and calls you gave me and Denny. She wants to especially thank her best friend and husband, Denny, for taking such good care of me throughout my life and at the end of it. I love you so much and hope to see you again on the Resurrection day. I love you all so much; just think of me sometime and I will be with you. Peace to all! She is survived by her husband, Denny; son Scott (Diane)Taylor; grandchildren, Drew and Brooke Taylor; sister, Dee Dehaven; brother, Rick (Barbara) Meadows; brothers-in-law, James (Monica) Taylor, Larry (Janet) Brach; special cousins, Peggy (Ralph) Morgan and their son, Jonathan, Barbara (Tom) Wielbacher; many nieces nephews and special friends Pat and Jim Mutchler. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Lawrence Taylor; parents; sisters, Linda Straub, Patsy Bias, Marie Fitzsimmons; brother, Ed Meadows and mother and father-in-law, Chuck Alice Brach. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 4-8 PM at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) with a scripture service at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church 3030 Tremainsville Rd. Toledo. OH 43613. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio 30000 River Rd Perrysburg, OH 43551 or St. Clement Catholic Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Katrapati, Dr. Ahmed and Dr. Hussein for the excellent care you gave to Shirley. Also the outstanding staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Angie Sorosiak and staff for their care in Shirleys home.
