Sherman Hill, age 85, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on December 12, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family. Sherman was employed with General Motors, until his retirement in 1990. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent much time hunting, specifically bear hunting, and fishing. Throughout his life, he owned several different cabins and lake houses throughout Canada and in upper Michigan. Sherman was a licensed pilot and even owned his own plane, that he purchased for his 35th birthday.
Sherman Hill was born on May 9, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of John and Loretta (Tabbert) Hill. He married Janet (Dishong) Hill on January 19th, 1957, and the two enjoyed 32 years of marriage, before her passing, in 1989.
Left to cherish Sherman’s memory include his daughters, Cindy (Loren) Wielfaert and Nicolette (Keith) Baxter; grandchildren, Shailyn (Ben) Bugg, Tiffany Angus, Danielle (Tony) Facer, Ryan (Heather) Baxter, Ashley Baxter, Johnathon, Gregory, and Scotty Hill; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Bradley, Joey, Lexi, Austin, AJ, Adrianna, Aiden, Victoria, and Niko; great-great-grandson, Bentley; siblings, Nancy (Bob) Bierley, Barbara (John) Hurley, and John Hill. Sherman is preceded in death by his parents, John, and Loretta; his wife, Janet; one son, Randy Hill; one great-great-grandson, Austin, and one sister, Sandy Farr.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm.
Memorial contributions in honor of Sherman are suggested to a charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
