Sheri Lynne Hayes

Sheri L. Hayes, 58, of Elmore, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 27, 1962 in Oregon, Ohio to Pedro and Betty (Todd) Cuevas. Sheri was employed by the Village of Elmore for 20+ years and most recently was the Fiscal Officer for the last 10 years. She had several certifications from the State of Ohio. Sheri, otherwise known as “Mama Bear”, loved her kids and grandchildren. She loved making memories with her family; from buying a bunkhouse camper so she could take her grandkids camping to riding the several horses she had over the years, including her favorite horse, Fancy. Sheri loved working in the woods, pulling the fallen trees to the pile so they could get cut or split. She loved Mexican food and her favorite Mexican breakfast was made by her Tia Maria. On August 27, 2006, Sheri married the love of her life, George, in Elmore and he survives. Also surviving Sheri are her children, Jamie (Kris) Lowe, Alicia Barnhouse and Kaysie (Chris Pokrzywa) Barnhouse; grandchildren, Logan, Kylie, Jordyn, Britton, Gavin, Alyssa, Landon, Carson, Kinsley and Cohen; mother, Betty Cuevas; brothers, Jeff (Rhonda) Cuevas and Mike Cuevas; sisters, Deborah Maynard and Jeannie (Steve) Harder; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Pedro; sisters, Leslie and Connie Maynard; and nephew, Shilo Conner. Services for Sheri will be private for the family.
