Sheila Kay Sprigg, 77, of Sandusky, affectionately referred to as “Granny” by her grandsons and “Sheila Kay” by her family, departed her earthly body on Friday, May 7, 2021 at her home in Sandusky, OH following a short, vicious, but brave battle with uterine cancer. She was surrounded by her family and faithful companion, Sadie. Sheila was born on November 24, 1943 in Zanesville, OH to the late Lillian “Winnie” Mae (Freeman) Black and Charles Franklin Black. She graduated from Maysville High School in Zanesville, OH in 1961. On December 5, 1981 she married her “partner in all things creative” and the love of her life Charles Sprigg at Sawmill Creek in Huron, OH and he survives. Sheila was co-owner Feather Your Nest Ohio. She enjoyed creating jewelry and gifts from silverware that was 60 years of age or older with her husband and they attended art and craft shows all over the United States to sell their creations. Sheila spent 25 years in sales management with Avon Products Inc. where she achieved great success because of her internal drive, ability to motivate people to be successful, and ability to make a friend wherever she went. As a result of her success, she traveled to Hawaii, China, Austria, Mexico, and Ellis Island, NY and saw some amazing and beautiful sights. Sheila was a former owner of Steuk’s County Market, Sandusky, OH. Sheila was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton. She and her husband Charlie enjoyed the winters in Lake Wales, FL for 11 years. Sheila had a smile that would light up a room. She will be remembered as a fiercely independent and selfless woman who loved people and saw the good in everything and everyone. She had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and a keen eye for decorating and fashion. Survivors include: husband of 40 years, Charles of Sandusky, daughter, Julie (Kevin) Wylie of Castalia, OH, grandsons, Kalob Wylie and Kolby Wylie both of Castalia, OH, niece, Stacey (Mike) Tanner of Marshallville, OH, nephew, Brad (Angel) Creeks of Zanesville, OH, and grand-dog, Mollie. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Karen Rae Creeks, brother-in-law James Creeks, and many other extended family members that she loved and dearly missed. As requested by Sheila, services will be private and interment will take place at the columbarium at Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Sheila may be given to Cancer Services of Erie County or Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, OH. In lieu of memorial contributions, we encourage you to shop a small, local, crafter, or shop in memory of Sheila.
