Sheila Joy Boehler

Sheila Joy (Lusk) Boehler, of Genoa, Ohio, died peacefully, Thursday, February 20, 2025. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 12, 1947, the daughter of Don and Joyce (Swartzlander) Lusk whom preceded in death along with her sister and brother-in-law, Marlaine and David Schmidlin. She is survived by her husband Tom, sister Connie Spitler, children Mark Boehler and Melinda (Robert) Russell, her grandchildren Xavier and Samuel Beach.

Sheila was the first-born child of Joyce and Donald Lusk. She and her sisters, Marlaine and Connie, grew up in Genoa where they would swim and go fishing in the Genoa Quarry. Sheila graduated from Genoa High School in 1965. She attended beauty college afterward. Working as a beautician, she made many lifelong friends. She married Thomas Boehler in 1971. They settled down in Genoa, just around the corner from her parents. Sheila took a break from working outside the home to raise their two wonderful children. Once the kids were in school, Sheila found an opportunity to work at Sunshine Children’s Home, now known as Sunshine Inc. of NW Ohio. She worked there for over 20 years. During this time, she was able to help hundreds of families with children of special needs in Northwest Ohio.

Sheila was a devoted wife and mother. Always smiling and helping everyone she could. She made everyone in her presence feel welcome. Sheila and Tom were able to spend much of their retirement as snowbirds, traveling south to warmer weather in the winter, then back North to Genoa in the summer.

Sheila battled Alzheimer's Dementia for years, but it never changed her kind and loving personality. She remained fun loving and full of spark until the end. She loved to dance to Elvis, The Four Seasons, Abba... If it had a good beat and made her smile, she would dance to it!
