Shawn Lynn Soncrant, 62, of Perrysburg, OH, passed away unexpectedly, July 24, 2024. He was born April 30, 1962 in Texas (raised in Genoa, OH) to Eugene (aka “Punk”) and Emma Soncrant. Shawn proudly served our country as an MP in the United States Air Force for two years. After the Air Force, Shawn worked as a heavy equipment operator and as a truck driver, but in his words, he was a “Transportation Engineer”. Shawn married Jeannine Dennehy on June 30, 2018 after 8 years of courtship.
Shawn liked to stay busy and could fix anything. He enjoyed riding his Harley Roadking, but he left the Softail, that his wife rides, alone as in his words it was a ‘sissy’ bike. Although, his son (Johnathan) rides a Softail, but that one has the apes so it’s ‘cool’.
He enjoyed his ‘town hall’ meetings with his neighbors in the cul-de-sac, where they drank coffee and discussed their ‘busy’ schedules for the weekend. He loved spending time with his granddaughter, Josephine, whom he affectionately called Peanut; they even had special games they would play together, such as “Kissy Chin” and the “Malachi Crunch”. All friends and family will remember him for his sarcastic personality and always being a jokester.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Jeannine; children, Johnathan Soncrant, Nathan Lowe, Ashlee Michalak, Ryon (Brigid) Michalak, John (Elisia) Turner, Shamus Dennehy; their close friend Devon Hornyak (sons Brantly and Marshall); granddaughter, Josephine Marie-Rae; sister, Gina (Paul) Haag; father and mother-in-law, John (Janet Lee) Dennehy; brothers-in-law, James Dennehy, Michael (Char Trabbic) Dennehy, and Joseph Dennehy; sisters-in-law, Caterina (James) Veller and Audra (Dave) Luby; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Stormy Kale and Candi Soncrant; brother, Joe Soncrant; and granddaughter, Adah Michalak.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, July 31st, 2024 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133).
