Sharon Leona Coakley died surrounded by her loving family on June 20, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on November 10, 1943 to her parents, John and Leona Kreuz. Sharon grew up on a vegetable farm in Swanton, Ohio that grew flowers and veggies they sold to travelers from near and far. She graduated from Ai (pronounced A I) High School. Sharon and Jack met at a TCCY church dance in 1964.
She worked as a secretary, but after marrying her beloved husband, Jack Coakley, became a homemaker to care for her beautiful family. With a strong work ethic and a passion for creative freedom, Sharon enjoyed volunteering on the PTO, photography, scrapbooking, supporting her family, and cuddling her grandchildren.
The love of long walks on the beach and seafood led Jack and Sharon to winter in Destin, Florida for 21 years. Sharon adored time at the beach at various locations across the country.
Hosting family in her home was a joy. Sharon provided the best snack spread, and amazing Christmas cookies, and was known to enjoy an occasional margarita.
She will be missed dearly by her husband, Jack Coakley; children, Brian (Julie) Coakley, Janice (Andy Zartman) Coakley; grandchildren, Miles, Jack, Wyatt, and Audrey; siblings, Marilyn Buford, John (Emily) Kreuz; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Pat Mitchell, Sister Audrey Kreuz, Caroline Adams, and Catherine Ringle.
A time of visiting at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) will be held from 2 pm – 6 pm on Sunday, June 23 with a funeral service at the funeral home at 10:15 am on Monday, June 24. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
