Sharon Achor

June 22, 1940 — April 12, 2022

Sharon Kay Achor, 81, of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. She was born in Toledo, OH on June 22, 1940, to her late parents, Albert and Florence (Caulkins) Manz where she was raised alongside her sister. She went on to marry Richard, in 1986.

Sharon attended Edward D. Libbey High School and graduated in 1958. Upon graduation, she began working for Ohio Bell (ATT Telephone Pioneers) whom she loyally served for 30+ years. Aside from her work, Sharon loved volunteering at the Toledo Zoo and joyfully held the position of zoo educator. She was also very talented at cooking and baking, famously known amongst her family members as the “Martha Stewart” (especially when it came to her sugar cookies).

Sharon was a woman who appreciated all aspects of life and had many different hobbies. She had a special love for animals, was willing to travel to wherever it was warm, and thoroughly enjoyed swimming and fishing on Lake Erie. She also cherished reading, crocheting, and sewing, especially dolls. Sharon had very strong maternal instincts that she poured out into her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing hostess, never failed to make others feel welcome, and was always open to help anyone. Sharon had an amazing sense of humor, and her family will always remember her funny laugh and willingness to sing and dance.

She is survived by her sister, Bev Westrick; children, Jennifer (Gerry) Fong, Michael (Kandace) Helbing; stepchildren, Sue Burkett (Stu Cline, Jr.), Richard Todd (Jody) Achor; grandchildren, Kevin Fong, Katherine Fong, Michael Monday, Gage McConnell, Aden Helbing, Jessica (Josiah) Poupard, Andrew, Ian, and Eric Achor; greatgrandchildren, Harlan and Harper Poupard; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Achor; brother-in-law, David Westrick.
