Severino Sam Zambrano, MD, of Curtice, Ohio, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, in Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. He was born in Manilla, Phillipines, on April 5, 1935. On June 9, 1972, in Williston, Ohio, he married Vicky L. Schmidt and she survives. Dr. Zambrano served over 35 years as a medical physician in the Toledo area; most recently in his private practice at the Medical Arts Building in Toledo. He attended patients at Riverside Hospital, St. Annes Hospital and St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center. Dr. Zambrano received his medical degree from St. Thomas University in Manilla and practiced there for a short time before coming to the United States to practice medicine until his retirement. He was very proud to be a U.S. citizen and lived it to the fullest. His passion was being a physician, and he was dedicated to helping people less fortunate. With his wit and gentleness he made many new friends and developed great relationships with everyone; his patients loved him. Dr. Zambrano was a family man, who enjoyed working with his trees and his yard. He was also an avid reader and loved to golf and bowl. In addition to his wife, Vicky, Dr. Zambrano is survived by his children, Amy Brian Leu of Williston, Adam Ginger Zambrano of Martin, Enrico Colleen Zambrano of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren, Victoria Leu, Addison Zambrano, Ariel, Melina, Kyle and Kaylan Zambrano; siblings, Nestor Carmen Zambrano, MD of Oregon, Felicita Duano of SanAntonia, TX, Aurora Lloyd Nolan of Canada and Anicia Mathews of Ohio; and sister-in-law, Jane Michael Lentz and their daughter, Jillian, of Williston. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Augustine, Castor, Pilop, Julian, and sister and brother-in-law, Dennis and Nancy Schmidt. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in St. John Lutheran Church, Williston. Burial will take place in Allen Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. John Lutheran Church or the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist. #1, Williston. Come To Me God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be.
