Selma M. Loomis, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Kingston Care Center of Sylvania. She was born on October 29, 1917, in Holland, OH, to William and Selma Wolfert Champion. She graduated from Springfield High School. Selma worked at Bellmans Super Market as a Head Cashier before she met the light of her life. At 17 years old she med her husband, Raymond at the roller-skating rink and it was love at first sight. He held his hand out to her and she caught his hand and six years later they were married on October 15, 1940. They had 59 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1999. Selma truly loved being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and every summer canned peaches and tomatoes with her mother. Selma was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Leiken of Toledo, OH and Lucille Cochran of St. Charles, MI. Surviving is her brother, William Gene Champion of Holland, OH; sons, Richard Donna Loomis of Toledo, OH, David Donna Loomis of Henderson, NV; daughter, RuthAnn McCollum of Maumee, OH; 7 grandchildren; Scott Jennifer Loomis, Nicole Robert Ward, Kelly Loomis, Matthew Wendy McCollum, Michael McCollum, Edward Loomis and Kenneth Loomis. Also 7 great grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank the staff at Kingston Care Center for the good care and kindness given to our mother. Also, a special thank you to Angie Sorosiak a family friend and devoted caregiver to our mother. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, February 15, 2009, from 2-6 PM, at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m..
