Scott Allen Smith

Scott Allen Smith affected the life of everyone he met in a positive way and really was a wonderful person. Scott passed away March 10, 2022, from a serious heart condition discovered just hours earlier, with his wife by his side. Scott was married to his wife Susan for 16 years and is the father of two children, Lily age 11 and Lucas age 9.

In 1998 Scott graduated from Westerville South and then pursued his undergraduate, graduate and MBA from The University of Toledo. He was always learning and loved taking courses, reading books and learning from others. Scott began his career as a mechanical engineer, was promoted to engineering manager and then promoted to senior manager vehicle systems and controls. His professional life was full of accomplishments earning many patents and the admiration of his colleagues.

Scott was born on October 1, 1979, to Lois Watts and Nelson Smith. Scott was raised by his mom and stepdad, Lois and Dan Watts and Nelson and Patti Smith and David Greene. He was a loving brother to his siblings, Stephanie (Nate) May, Teresa Pruett, Danton (Shannon) Watts and Stephen Smith. He was loved and will be missed by his large, extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, and nephew.

Scott was a kind and giving man. He was devoted to his family and friends as well as volunteering his time at Cub Scouts, coaching youth sports and helping in his community in many ways. Scott enjoyed traveling the world with his family and for work. Being in the great outdoors brought him great enjoyment.

A visitation will be held Tuesday March 15 th from 4-8 pm at Maison-Dardenne Walker Funeral Home at 501 Conant St., Maumee. A service will be held on Wednesday March 16 ^th at 11 am at Maumee United Methodist Church 405 Sackett St Maumee. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of the following suggestions- Toledo Lucas County Public Library, Sarah’s Friends (Shelter in Bryan, OH) or Boston Children’s Hospital.
