Scott L. Meckfessel

Scott Meckfessel, 61, of Oak Harbor died Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky. He was born on January 22, 1953 in Port Clinton to Fred and Marion (Wallace) Meckfessel. Scott graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1972. On May 18, 1973 in Oak Harbor he married Diane (Fillmore) and she survives. Scott previously owned and operated Meckfessel Shoe Store in Oak Harbor until 1979 and then worked as a maintenance supervisor for Davis Besse from 1980-2010. He enjoyed The Ohio State Buckeyes, bird watching (especially purple martins) in his beloved backyard, and his classic cars, especially doing Corvette rides with his dear friends and his son. In addition to his loving wife of 41 years, Diane, Scott is survived by his son: Shawn (Maryjo) Meckfessel, daughter: Sarah (Brad) Harvey, grandchildren: Brock Hanney, Ashleigh Meckfessel, Chelsea Meckfessel, Scott Meckfessel, Zachary Harvey, Jacob Harvey, and Allison Harvey, brothers: John Mike (Maryann) Meckfessel and Fred (Lisa) Meckfessel, sister: Kim (Mark) Bebow, and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Cheri Rowe. Visitation will be 2- 8 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor John Stirewalt at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor with interment to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions in memory of Scott may be given to St. Judes or the Shriners Burn Hospitals.
