Sarah Sally Hemdal

Sarah M. Hemdal, age 79, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on April 2, 2017 at Kingston Care Center of Sylvania. She was born on October 10, 1937 in Peru, Indiana to Paul and Josephine (Weimer) Moore. Sally was a graduate of Purdue University with highest distinction and received her Masters in Speech Pathology from Eastern Michigan University. Sally spent much of her life providing speech therapy in the field of special education. She retired from the Monroe County Intermediate School District where she was named the 1996 Outstanding Educator of the Year. She met many life-long friends through her employment there. Sally loved reading and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was very fond of her many pets and was a long-time sponsor of the Monroe County Humane Society. Sally is survived by her loving husband of 59 yrs., John; son, Jay (Tammy); daughters, Paula (Christof) Moore Roche and Allison (Mel) Micham; and grandchildren; John Hemdal, Jacob and Lauren Micham, and Isabel and Alexandra Roche. She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Jay Fornshell. Per Sallys final wishes there will be no services.
