Sarah Breck Bertram

Sarah Breck Bertram, age 91, passed at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on July 26, 2015. She was born on July 19, 1924 in Omaha, NE to Harry and Yvonne (Ebersole) Breck. She was raised in Evanston, IL and Toledo, OH. Sarah was a graduate of Scott High School and the University of Toledo where she received her Bachelor of Art and Science Degree. She was also a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After she had her children, she received her Education Degree and taught first grade in Washington Township. She was voted “Outstanding Teacher of the Year” in 1970. Sarah was a freelance professional fashion model for over 60 years, calling herself “the oldest working model” at 80 years old. She was involved with the Ability Center, a Toledo Opera member and served on the board and guild for fifty plus years. Her husband, the late Pastor O.H. Bertram, was pastor of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. After his death, she wrote the book “Pastor Honey and Angel”. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie M. (Randy) Boudouris and Sally Y. (Amos) Martin; granddaughters, Emily B. (Nicolas) Horvath and Barbara D. Boudouris; great-grandson, Jackson; step-daughters, Lorna B. (Lee) Moulton and her children; and Barbara K. Cain and her family; and niece, Melanie Breck Monroe. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Lewis W. Martin, husband, Pastor O.H. Bertram and brother, Dr. Richard Breck. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 am.
