Sara Anne Ferrell

Sara Anne (Warwick) Ferrell passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018. She was born in Troy, Ohio to Percy and Florence Warwick on June 3, 1920. Sara graduated from Van Cleve High School in 1938, attended the University of Dayton, and enlisted in the Navy in 1942. She became a WAVE, and after boot camp at Hunter College in N.Y. and Yeoman School at Oklahoma A&M, she was stationed in Washington, D.C. She met Frank Ferrell on Christmas Eve in 1942 in Washington. He went to Midshipman School in Chicago and was commissioned an Ensign. He then went to communications school at MIT and was stationed in Hawaii as a Communications Officer coding and decoding messages for the Pacific Fleet. They were married in Troy, Ohio in 1946 and moved to West Virginia in 1948, where he recieved his Civil Engineering degree at W.V.U. In 1952, they moved to Newark, Ohio with the Ohio Department of Highways. He joined Owens Corning Fiberglass in 1954, and they moved to New Jersey. They moved to Perrysburg in 1963. The joined Tanglewood Golf Club and Valleywood Dance club, and played golf at most local courses. Sara loved to play golf and bridge, and belonged to several bridge groups. She was also an avid reader and Moe Oberra at Way Library kept her supplied with her favorite authors. She was addicted to crossword puzzles, and started every day only have after having 2 cups of coffee and working on the morning newspaper puzzle. Frank retired from Owens Corning after 30 years, and was active in delivering Mobile Meals. He served on the Advisory board at Wood Lane Industries in Bowling Green. They enjoyed ten years or retirement, dancing, and golfing at Myrtle Beach in the Spring, and in Michigan in the fall. She was a Life Member of Towne Club and served as Secretary, President, co-editor of the newspaper, and co-chairman of three fundraisers. She never met a stranger. If their eyes met, she smiled and didnt hesitate to start a conversation. She had a great sense of humor. She claimed her blood ran Red, White and Blue as members of her family fought in the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. She attended all of her childrens school activities and bought their schools many, many, fruit cakes for the band. If it was for Perrysburg or Wood County, out came the checkbook. She was a great soccer fan, and went to every grand her grandson, Brad, played in from kindergarten through high school, and team travels. Sara is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Terry) Epstein; sons, Michael Ferrell, Charles (Skip) Ferrell all of Perrysburg; grandson, Bradley (Nicole); great-granddaughter, Quinn Epstein; great-grandson, Easton of Houston, Texas; nephew, Steve Johnson and Family of Troy, Ohio; niece, Stephanie (Jim) Kessler and family of Mainville, Ohio; Cindy (Scott) Johnson and family of Covington, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Ferrell; sister, Merri Johnson of Covington, Ohio; brother, William Warwick of Denver, Colorado; and nephew, Scott Johnson of Covington Ohio. Family and Friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 3:00-6:00 P.M. The family will hold a private service.
