Sandra “Sandy” Lee Belinske, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on January 28, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born in Elkhart, Indiana, on June 27,1936, to Edmund and Mary “Betty” Jackson.
Sandra married her high school sweetheart, Joseph “Joe” Belinske III, and together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. A proud graduate of her beloved DeVilbiss High School, she played first-chair flute in the band and served as majorette during football season. She remained devoted to her alma mater, actively organizing her class reunions for years to come. Early in her married life, Sandra worked as a telephone operator. Later, she became a driving force behind the family construction company she helped her husband build—managing it with diligence and heart throughout her life. While raising her children, she was a dedicated member of Olivet Lutheran Church, where she also led the Vacation Bible School program. Sandra’s commitment to her community was remarkable. She chaired and volunteered with numerous organizations and events including the Society of the Blind, Meals on Wheels, the Cancer Society and Rally for the Cure. If there was a need, Sandra was there to fill it. A spirited athlete and adventurer, she found joy skiing up north, playing golf and tennis, sailing on the Great Lakes, and planning family excursions in Hilton Head, her second home. In quieter moments, she enjoyed knitting, cooking, needlepoint, and sipping her signature supersized Diet Pepsi.
Above all, Sandra’s proudest accomplishment was the family she raised. She treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sandra’s selfless heart and nurturing soul were a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her, and she is so deeply missed.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and sister, Janice Schroyer. She is survived by her brother, Ronald Jackson; her children, Jodette (Scott) Neely, Janette (Rich) Crawford, and Joseph (Diane) Belinske IV; grandchildren Kylee (Kyle), Les (Brittany), Tayler, Paige, Cara, Jackson, and Joe; and great-grandchildren Keegan, Kolton, Skylar, Karter, Lee, JJ, Jace, and Stella. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family.
