Samuel (Sam) A. Wilson, II of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on November 26, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Sam was born on June 25, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Samuel A. and Katherine E. (Boone) Wilson. After graduation from Shaw High School in 1945, Sam enlisted in the United States Navy. He married Victoria R. Thomas on November 25, 1950 in Philadelphia, PA. Sam attended Ohio University, studying journalism. He worked for many years as a manager for crude oil trading at Standard Oil of Ohio before retiring in 1985. During that time, Sam was highly regarded as a negotiator and manager. Sam was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. He also served as captain of the Sheffield Lake, Ohio Volunteer Fire Department for several years. Sam is survived by his loving daughters Haven (James) Marsh, Robin (Duane) Stranahan, Jr., and Stacy (Charles) Robinson; grandchildren Matthew (Hollie) Robinson, Mark C. Robinson, Katherine Boone Stranahan, and David S. Marsh; great grandchildren Bryce, Dillon, Breydan, Peyton, Ethan and Jacob; and brother Dr. Charles Louis (Marie) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Anne Elizabeth “Mitzi” Wheeler. A memorial service to commemorate Sam’s life and achievements is tentatively planned for June, 2015 at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home in Perrysburg, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice of Ohio (www.heartlandhospice.com/toledo).
