Samuel M. J. Sam Niefer

December 27, 1997 — March 9, 2020

Samuel M. J. Sam Niefer, 22, of Genoa, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2020, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio, after an accident at his home.  He was born in Oregon on December 27, 1997 the son of John P. and Vicki L. (Schmidt) Niefer.  Sam was a graduate of Genoa Area Local Schools and Penta County Vocational School; class of 2016.  He was currently employed with the City of Toledo Department of Sewers as a Service Technician. Sam came into this world as a guess who is coming to dinner that came at lunchtime.  He came early and left this world way too early.  If you were in his inner circle, you were one of the lucky ones.  He had a big heart and his love was strong.  His smile and laughter lit up a room.  He never backed down from a challenge. Sam was very active in the Masonic community.  He was a member of the Genoa Masonic Lodge #433, Oak Harbor Chapter #162, Eu Tah Commandery of Ohio #66 Knights Templar and was an Advisor for Demolay and Past Master Councilor of the Ottawa County Chapter.  Sam enjoyed his activities with AXE 419, was an avid Ohio State and Toledo Walleye fan and liked to spend time deer hunting. Sam is survived by his Mom & Dad, John & Vicki, brother, Mikal (Kristi) Bechstein, sister, Jenna Niefer, the love of his life, Brayden Marshall, nephew, Gabriel Bechstein, grandfather, Pop Schmidt, half brother, Nathan Niefer and half sister, Sarah Reinhard.  He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nini Schmidt, grandfather, Charles Niefer, grandmother, Shirley Niefer-Linet and grandfather, Dean Linet. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, Friday, March 13, 2020 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, OH, with a Masonic Service set for 7:00 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2020 at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH.  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials for Sam, be directed to the Masonic Order of the Donors Choice or the Genoa Civic Theatre, 509 1/2 Main Street, Genoa, Ohio.  Online condolences may be shared with Sams family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com. You came into this world early; you left this world too early and you were always in a hurry everywhere in between.
