Sam Sahadi

December 24, 1920 — November 23, 2014

Samuel Sahadi, age 93, passed away Sunday at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.  The son of Habib and Elizabeth, he was born December 24, 1920 in Greenwood, SC.  The Sahadi family moved to Toledo to accept employment at Toledo Auto-lite.  Sam graduated from Woodward High School.  He married Ellen Lockerman and enjoyed 64 years of  marriage.  He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942-1945 serving on the USS HB Freeman and proudly went on Honor Flight in 2012.   Sam and Ellen loved to travel and experienced the world on the Queen Elizabeth (QE2), where they met their lifelong friends Jim and Eileen Smith.  Following his retiring in 1982, he and Ellen moved to Myrtle Beach.  He took up the hobby of painting at the age of 74 and created over 400 pieces of art.  Sam and Ellen returned to Toledo in 2007 and resided at the Woodlands. He is survived by his children, Bonnie Werner, Mary Ellen (Michael) Luffy; grandchildren, Martha (Eric) Brown, Sarah (Christian) Kiewitz, Leah Werner, Joshua (Mary) Werner, Brad (Abigail) Luffy,  Kevin Luffy; 6 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen and his son-in-law, Ritter Werner. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) with a prayer service at 7:30 PM.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio 30000 River Rd Perrysburg, OH 43551 or Sunset House 4030 Indian Rd.
