Sally Marie Waggoner, age 84 of Waterville, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on August 29, 1932 to Harry and Gladys (Berge) Brooks in Moline, Ohio. During her youth, Sally worked at her father’s Red & White grocery store. Sally graduated from Lake High School, Millbury in 1950. For much of her career, she worked as an executive secretary at Owens-Illinois. On May 20, 1956, Sally and Robert Waggoner were married at the Moline United Methodist Church and they enjoyed 55 years together until Robert’s death in 2012. Sally had many interests revolving around genealogy and local history. She was a member of the Wood County Historical Society and co-authored a book “A History of Lake Township, Wood County, Ohio”. For many years, Sally volunteered at the Lucas County and Wood County Board of Elections. She also helped raise funds for breast cancer awareness. For 80 years, Sally resided in Moline and following her husband’s death, moved to Waterville to be closer to family. She soon became an active volunteer at the Waterville Historical Society and enjoyed walking with her friends. Sally was fond of travelling and with Bob toured across the United States and Canada. In recent years, she visited Peru, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands and Iceland. Besides her volunteer endeavors, Sally’s greatest passion was her family. She is survived by her children, Gary (Kara) Waggoner and Susan (David) Sisler, grandchildren, Zachary and Austin Sisler, brother Keith Brooks, and sister Kay Parker. Preceding her in death were Sally’s parents and brother-in-law, John Parker. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, June 17th from 2:00-8:00 pm at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Walbridge (419-666-3121). Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 18th at the Waterville United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Denman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to the Moline United Methodist Church or the Waterville United Methodist Church.
