Sally Ann Taylor

September 11, 1934 — January 28, 2013

Sally A. Taylor, age 78, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at her home. The daughter of Clifford and Nellie Rauth Sproul, she was born September 11, 1934 in Defiance, OH. Sally and her family moved to Toledo in 1941. A 1952 graduate of DeVilbiss High School, she married Ted Taylor on June 15, 1957. She was an active member of Mayfair-Plymouth Congregational Church, and especially enjoyed making prayer shawls and preparing gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child. She was also a member of Yondotta Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. Sally loved to travel and while working at Westmoor Apartments Retirement Community as the activity coordinator, she began to plan outings and motorcoach tours for the residents, which she personally guided. This grew into a full time business, Taylor Tours, Inc., which she owned and operated for over 30 years. Sally also enjoyed painting ceramics and china, camping, gardening, reading, crocheting and knitting, and became involved in knitting lap robes for those in need. Sally was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She found great fulfillment in taking care of her family and absolutely adored her grandchildren and her beloved dog, Maggie. Sally is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ted; children Cathy Steven Lynch Taylor, Shelly Michael Stoepler; grandchildren, Megan and Sean Stoepler; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas Sproul. There will be no visitation. Sallys family will receive friends on Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 2:00 3:00 PM at Mayfair-Plymouth Congregational Church, 5253 Bennett Rd., Toledo, OH 43612, where a memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Fishers of Men, 5253 Bennett Rd., Toledo, OH 43612, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
