Sally A. Rutledge, 76, of Oak Harbor passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009, in her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of her husband Russell Rutledge for 58 years. Together they raised four children, who all reside in Oak Harbor: Rex Rutledge, Michelle Marty Beier, Kevin Michelle Rutledge, and Jolynn Pete Benner; nine grandchildren: Whitney Rutledge, Jamie Grant, Mick Beier, Kyle Rutledge, Clark Rutledge, Chad Benner, Curt Benner, Mitch Benner, and Lauren Benner; five great grandchildren: Grace & Jacob Benner, Kaleb Grant, and twins, Mary and Shelby Beier; sisters-in-law: Jean McClanahan and Jennie Russell; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Erma Walker Russell, brothers, Raymond and James Russell, and sister, Donna Baldwin. Sally owned and operated a silk flower shop, where she made many arrangements plus weddings arrangements in silk. She also arranged baskets of roses for the BCS graduating classes for the last 15 years. Sally was an active member of the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church serving on the altar guild and worship committee. She decorated the church for all the seasons and holidays. Sally loved her home, her gardens, and especially her family. Visitation will be Saturday evening, September 19, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 2-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2009, at the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Those wishing to give a memorial contribution may direct them to the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church, Stein Hospice, or Mid-County E.M.S.
