Sally Ann Giauque

Sally Altman Giauque, 85, years, died in her Ottawa Hills home on July 23, 2013. Sally grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Lakewood High School in 1946. She then attended Hillsdale College, graduating in 1950. Sally met Ora Bud Giauque at Hillsdale and they were married in 1951, beginning a strong partnership that endured until Buds death in 1981. Sally was a devoted member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and especially committed to the sororitys chapter at Hillsdale College. Hillsdale College honored Sally in 2003 for her life-long volunteer support of the chapter and the College. A significant mission of Sallys life focused on expanding beauty through participation in the Ottawa Hills Garden Club, the Toledo Museum of Art, decorating of the Kappa house at Hillsdale College, and especially in her own home and gardens. She was also admired for her outstanding sense of style in clothing and design. Sally is survived by her two sons, Michael Ann Giauque and Peter Michelle Giauque, and grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Michael and Olivia Giauque. Friends may visit on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. at St. Michaels in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4718 Brittany Road. Ottawa Hills. Memorial contributions, in memory of Sally, may be made to St. Michaels in the Hills Episcopal Church, Hillsdale College, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, or the Salvation Army.
