Sabry Dr. Gohara

Dr. Sabry F. Gohara M.D. of Ottawa Hills passed away on April 25, 2014 at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. Dr. Gohara was born in Cairo, Egypt to Fawzi Gohara and Angele El Dahshoury, and went to Medical school at Cairo University. He practiced cardiothoracic surgery for 23 years. Most recently he was an associate professor of surgery at the University of Toledo College of Medicine. He dedicated the last 14 years of his life to mentoring and educating medical students. He was a respected and beloved teacher. Dr. Gohara was a truly renaissance man. He loved history, enjoyed classical music and physics. His strongest passion was for his church and Coptic faith. But most importantly, he was a loving, caring husband, father and Gedo grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving him are his wife of 46 years, Dr. Amira Gohara, his daughter Miriam Gohara JD Dr. Marcus McFerren, Dr. Mona Gohara MD Mr. Kiran Makam, both of Woodbridge, CT, his grandsons, Amir and Marlon Mcferren and Kiran and Jai Makam. Also surviving are his brother Wadie Gohara Samia of Lake Atwood, OH and his nephews Mark Gohara of Texas and David Gohara of St. Louis, MO, many cousins in the US and Egypt also survive him. Last but not least, his beloved companion and puppy, Winston, survives him. The family would like to thank his doctors at the University of Toledo Medical Center as well as the department of Surgery and Pathology at the University of Toledo for their support and compassion and St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in Monclova for their prayers, love and support during this trying time. Funeral services will be held at St. George Coptic Orthodox Church, 4860 Waterville Monclova Rd., Monclova, OH on Wednesday April 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
