S. Geneva Watson

S. Geneva Watson age 79 of Maumee passed away Saturday November 15, 2008 at Swan Creek Retirement Care Center, Toledo. Mrs. Watson was born on May 11, 1929 in Evansville, TN to Thomas Z. and Sallie King Newby. Geneva was an LPN for the State of Ohio Department of Mental Health for 36 years. She helped organize Local 1845 and was past president of AFSCME, Council 21, State of Ohio and AFL-CIO. Geneva was an associate of Local 12 and was active in the democratic party. She served on the board for the Ohio United Way, was active with the Democratic Party and was a member of Cass Rd. Baptist Church in Maumee. Genevas greatest joy was attending her childrens and grandchildrens sporting events. Surviving are her children, Margaret Ann Merville Nichols of Sun City, AZ; Anna Louise Jeffrey Schmidt of Waterville, OH; Robert M. Jennifer Watson Jr. of Toledo, OH; Thomas G. Joan Watson of Springfield Twp; Christopher L. Watson Sr. of Maumee, OH; Evelyn Charles Brown of Lake City, MI; Jimmye Anna John McFarlane of Maumee; Luke Cindy Cobb of Indiana; David M. Cobb of Michigan and Joseph Robin Cobb of Alabama. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a brother, Thomas Mary Newby. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert Merle Watson Sr.; 9 brothers and 3 sisters. Friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St. Maumee on Monday November 17th, 2008 from 4-8 pm and Tuesday from 2-8 pm.
