Ruth M. Vogt, 84, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Monday, January 30, 2017 at Otterbein North Shore Nursing Home, Lakeside, OH. Ruth was born on October 17, 1932, in Bay Township, OH, the daughter of Senke and Freida (Jeschke) Ewersen. On July 24, 1954, she married Gaylord K. Vogt. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2010. Ruth was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, where she played the organ for 50 years and sang in the church choir. She worked at the Port Clinton High School cafeteria, retiring in 1998 after 20 years of service. Ruth was a member of 4H. She was a 4H advisor for many years and on the Ottawa County 4H Endowment committee. She was a longtime member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club and enjoyed traveling with various Port Clinton groups. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are: Daughters: Kathy (Terry) Wolfe, Jane (Dwayne) Fleming, Maria Walters, Kristina (Marty) VonBurg and Martha (Duane) Snyder; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and one on the way as well as sister: Adella Jadwisiak. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers: Herbert and Frederick “Porky” Ewersen. Friends may call from 2-6PM, Friday, February 3, 2017, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Tony Setley at 11:00AM, Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church, 900 Jefferson St, Port Clinton, OH, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Ruth, may be given to Peace Lutheran Church.
