Ruth M. Shinn

Ruth M. Shinn, 94, of Toledo, passed away January 16, 2017 at Oak Leaf Village. She was born October 30, 1922 in Martin, Ohio to the late Harmon and Clara (Schroeder) Behm. Ruth attended school in Trowbridge, Ohio and was employed first as a merchandise clerk at GC Murphy Co. in Toledo. She later worked as secretary/treasurer at both B O Federal Credit Union in Oregon, Ohio and Pisgah WeeCare Center in West Chester, Ohio. In her free time, Ruth enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, caring for her house plants, and traveling with her husband. She had visited all 50 states, each Canadian province, Europe and South Africa. She loved Jesus and her final request was for all of her family and friends to meet her in Heaven. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of nearly 76 years, Glenn A. Shinn; children, Mary Ann (Ron) Gray, Floyd (Shirley) Shinn and Doris Dodie (Bill) Kirby; grandchildren, Lori and Jeff Gray, Lisa (Chris) Westfall, Troy (Teresa) Shinn, Robin (Jim) Cole and Ben (Donna) Kirby; 7 great-grandchildren, Lindsey Gray, Noah Emma Shinn, Arielle Westfall, Cami Caiden Cole and Debby Kirby; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy Shinn; and sisters, Florence Weigel and Elsie Lohr. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2017 in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) concluded by funeral services to honor Ruths life at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Lake Township Cemetery near Walbridge.
