Ruth Norma Sheldon

Ruth Norma Sheldon, 85, of Genoa, passed away peacefully in her sleep and with family and friends at her side Friday, April 2, 2010, in the Genoa Care Center, Genoa, Ohio. She was born October 21, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio to Wilbur and Norma Schuldt Giblin. On September 18, 1948 Ruth married Bassett Buck Sheldon, and he preceded her in death. Ruth was a graduate of Woodward High School in 1943. For three years Ruth worked at the old administration building for Willys Overland. For ten years she worked for the Village of Genoa before retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Genoa for over 50 years, and loved crocheting afghans for family and friends for weddings and birthdays. Ruth also loved playing cards at the Genoa Senior Center and played Bunko with a group of ladies for over 40 years. For the past eight years she spent her winters in Florida with special friend Richard K. Sheets. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Lee David Krupp of Acworth, GA., son, Gaylord Chris Sheldon of Genoa, sister, Helen Shimel of Ludington, MI, and sisters-in-law, Ardith Gaines of Oak Harbor and Nasibe Giblin of Oregon, Ohio, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild on the way, many nieces and nephews, and special friend Richard K. Sheets. She was preceded by her parents, husband, daughter Sharon Milton, granddaughter Kendra Milton, sister Wilma Giblin, twin brother, Robert W. Giblin, and brother, Clarence Giblin. Visitation for Ruth will be held on Monday April 5, 2010 from 2-8 p.m. in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Genoa, Ohio. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday April 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Untied Church of Christ, Genoa, Ohio. Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, Ohio. Memorials in memory of Ruth may be made to the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District Station #3, the Genoa Senior Center, the Genoa Christian Church, or donors choice. www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
