Ruth Ruthie E. Sawmiller, 76, of Oregon, Ohio, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Ruthie was born November 16, 1932, in Curtice, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Myrtle Heltebrake Coon. On June 13, 1959, in Oregon she married Paul O. Sawmiller, who survives. Ruthie was a 1950 graduate of Clay High School and was known for asking others, What high school did you go to? She drove school bus for Oregon Schools for 13 years and volunteered as a teachers aide. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Oregon, where she volunteered to feed the Clay High School football team before Fridays games. Ruthie liked to play Bunco and enjoyed decorating cakes for family and friends for many years; but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Paul, Ruthie is survived by her children, Curt Kim Sawmiller of Ft. Wayne, IN, Kevin Steffanie Sawmiller of Curtice, and Karen Sawmiller of Oregon, four grandchildren, Kelly and Kristi Sawmiller and Sam and Erika Hartford, and her sister, Marilyn Fondessy of Oregon. Her parents preceded her in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2009, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, in Christ United Methodist Church, Oregon, with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Curtice.
