Ruth Harriet Jones

Ruth Harriet Jones, age 90, of Toledo, died Nov 24, 2016. Ruth was born on May 7, 1926 in Queens, NY to Jessie and Harry Eckert. She graduated from Franklin K. Lane H.S. in 1944, and then worked as a typist on 40 Wall Street for the Phelps Dodge Corp. Ruth married Edward Joseph Jones, of Ridley Park, PA, on March 30, 1947 in Woodhaven, NY. They were married for 60 years. Their daughter, Vicki, was born in 1953. During the 1960s and 1970s Ruth was an active member of the Home Extension Club with projects for sewing, cooking and crafts. The family lived in Hempstead, NY until Eds job with Owens-Illinois relocated them to the Toledo area in 1978. Ruth then joined the Welcome Wagon Club where she enjoyed making new friends. In 2007 Ed preceded Ruth in death. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Vicki, of Toledo; and brother George (Joan) Eckert of Reston, VA. Visitation will be held from 1-2:30pm on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio with the service to follow at 2:30 pm in the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 1 pm on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee, Ohio. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
