Ruth F. Jeko

Ruth F. Jeko, 91, formerly of Walbridge, Ohio passed away at Parkcliffe Community on March 9, 2014, where she was currently residing. She was born to Charles and Marguerite (Friess) Eckhart on November 26, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio. Ruth married Charles F. Manion on April 11, 1942 and had two daughters, Jeanne and Judith. Charles was killed in action during WWII. On May 25, 1946, Ruth married Nicholas E. Jeko and they had a daughter, Suzanne. Ruth loved playing bingo, cards and going to the casino to gamble. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida during the winter months where she collected shells to bring home and make various crafts, which she would then sell. She was a very generous person and donated often to various charities. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Manion Pickering of Woodville, Ohio and Suzanne (Thomas) Corcoran of Oregon, Ohio; brother, Wayne Eckhart of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Swisher, Lisa (Marty) Scheanwald, Jennifer (David) Kreamer, Andrew (Michelle) Corcoran and Meggen Corcoran , 9 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marguerite; first husband, Charles Manion and second husband, Nicholas Edward; daughter, Judy Manion; brothers, Ivan and Merle Eckhart; sisters, Doris Cole, Lois Heffelbower and Joan Foster. Friends will be received at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge (419-666-3121) on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM. where funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 14. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
