Ruth E. Fillmore, 78, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. She was born August 20, 1932, in Fremont, Ohio, to Foster E. and Zelma B. Tucker Wilbert. On August 19, 1978, in Clyde, Ohio, she married Harold J. Fillmore and he survives. Ruth worked as a cashier for Lathams Grocery Store in Clyde for 14 years and then for State Farm Insurance Co. in Oak Harbor for 17 years, before retiring in 2001. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, and the V.F.W. Post #8732 Auxiliary of Oak Harbor. Ruth enjoyed reading, traveling, and camping. In addition to her loving husband of 32 years, Harry, Ruth is survived by her children: daughter, Rebecca Gale McClure of Spencerville, Ohio, son, Daniel Cher Griffin of Merida, Belize, daughter, Jacquelyn Lloyd Stout of Montrose, California, son, Christopher Brenda Griffin of Wooster, Ohio; step-son, Lauren Glenda Fillmore of San Antonio, Texas, step daughter, Diane Scott Meckfessel of Oak Harbor and step daughter, Janet Schmidt of Bono, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Nancy Arthur Gardner of Bellevue, Ohio, and sisters-in-laws, Lynda Wilbert of Clyde, Ohio, and Neva Wilbert of Old Fort, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Thomas Wilbert and Robert Wilbert, sister, Doris Zilles, and son, Matthew David Griffin. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 22, 2011, from 2- 8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. There will be a V.F.W. Post #8732 Auxiliary service held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ruth may be given to the V.F.W. National Home for Children, 3573 S. Waverly Rd., Eaton Rapids, MI 48827.
