Ruth L. Elwing

Ruth L. Elwing, 85, of Martin, Ohio, died early Wednesday morning, April 25, 2012, in Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. Ruth was born July 17, 1926, in Toledo, Ohio, to Chester R. and Carrie M. Bresler Sutton. On May 23, 1944, in Toledo she married Lewis H. Elwing and he survives. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother and had worked as a sales clerk for over 20 years at the Lakewood Greenhouse in Northwood. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Elliston, Ohio, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a former member of the PTA. Ruth enjoyed crocheting and working in her flower garden. She and her husband were devoted campers and had traveled all over the United States. In addition to her husband, Lewis, Ruth is survived by her son, Daryl L. Louise Elwing of Northwood and daughter, Patricia A. Jerry Everhardt of Genoa, daughter-in-law, Kay Elwing, of Genoa, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and sister, Ladonna Grames of Grand Rapids, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Roland Ron Elwing, great grandson, Bradley Steedman, sister, Magnolia Zimmerman, and brothers, Norman, Albert, Marion, Harold and Robert Sutton. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2012, in Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston, with interment to follow in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2012, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. Memorials for Ruth may be directed to Trinity United Church of Christ Building Fund, American Cancer Society, or the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist. #1, Williston.
