Ruth H Drysel

Ruth H. Drysel, age 101, passed away on August 22, 2026.

Ruth was born on March 14, 1925, in Essen, Germany, to Fritz and Freida Fago. Her remarkable life spanned more than a century and carried her through tremendous change, hardship, and new beginnings. She lived through Nazi Germany and the devastation of World War II, eventually fleeing to Austria before making her way to the United States, where she built a new life for herself and her family.

Throughout her life, Ruth was defined by her strength, perseverance, and devotion to her children. No matter the circumstances or challenges she faced, she always found a way to take care of her family. She was an excellent mother who endured many difficult times while remaining determined to provide for those she loved.

Ruth shared 40 years of marriage with her second husband, Albion Drysel, until his passing in 2014. Together, they shared many years of life, family, and memories.

Despite all of the changes Ruth witnessed throughout her 101 years, she knew how to enjoy life's simple pleasures. She loved a good gin martini, and later in life developed quite the sweet tooth, especially when it came to chocolate, ice cream, and cookies.

Ruth is survived by her children, Monica Caro and Bill Crawford; as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albion Drysel.

Ruth will be laid to rest privately at Toledo Memorial Park.
