Ruth R Beckhusen

December 9, 1922 — August 16, 2014

RUTH R. BECKHUSEN Ruth Rebecca (Goachee) Beckhusen, lifelong Toledo resident, passed away peacefully at her home on August 16, 2014 at the age of 91 with her family at her bedside holding her hands. Ruth was truly an angel on earth who has now returned to her Heavenly Home. She was born in Toledo on December 9, 1922 to the late Clarence and Blanche (Relyea) Goachee. She graduated from Woodward High School. Ruth married the love of her life, Alvin (Harry) Beckhusen, on November 29, 1941. Alvin preceded her in passing in September 2008. She was also preceded by her parents and sister, Betty Kasch. Prior to raising her family, she worked as a shoe sales clerk at the old Sears store downtown. Ruth was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church and past member of Sylvania Eastern Stars. Ruth was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Her love for her family was utmost in her every thought, word and deed. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crocheting and doing word search puzzles. Ruth and Alvin loved to travel and had visited most of the 50 states. An annual fishing trip to Canada with Alvin and Jim was something she looked forward to and often out-fished them. She and Barbara had a love of the Amish scenery and their peaceful lifestyle and made numerous trips to Sugar Creek and Shipshewana. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jagielski of Portage, MI; son, James Beckhusen of Oak Harbor, OH; grandchildren, Mark Jagielski; Mary Jagielski and Jamie Beckhusen; great grandchildren, James; Jordyn; Josh and Connor and precious great great grandson, Keidyn. Friends and family may call at Neville Funeral Home, 5052 Dorr St., Toledo (419-535-0951) from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. A funeral to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 10:00 am, at Neville Funeral Home, Dorr St., with Pastor Steve Smithberger officiating. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice. The family wishes to thank Dr. Allen Schwisow for his many years of caring for Ruth, the doctors and nurses on 3West of St. Luke’s Hospital, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. “We know that this world is going to be a much lesser place without her. But Heaven is going to be a far greater place because of her presence.”----Her Family.
