Russell E. Yackee, 89, of Martin, Ohio, died early Friday morning, November 29, 2013, in Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, Ohio. Russell was born January 15, 1924, in Genoa, Ohio, to LeRoy W. and Maude Hill Yackee. On April 24, 1950, in Genoa, he married Audrey Witt and she survives. Russell served as postmaster for the Martin post office for several years and also operated Yackees Country Store and worked as a constable. In addition, he farmed and had worked for Phil Gas on Reynolds Rd. in Toledo. He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa and the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. One of his favorite pastimes was playing golf. In addition to his wife, Audrey, Russell is survived by his son, Lee Yackee of Martin, grandchildren, Brenna and Brodie Hagarty, and one great grandson, Jalen; sisters, Thelma Miller of Woodville and Patricia Harbal of Genoa. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Beth Hagarty, and sisters, Mildred Kolb, Marian Beatty, Helen Bayer and Agatha Dekreon Benadum. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Genoa, followed by interment in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Memorials for Russell may be directed to St. Johns UCC or St. Johns UCC Organ Fund, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH 43430; or Stein Hospice, 1200 N. Sycamore Line Rd., Sandusky, OH 44870.
