Russell R. Payne

Payne Russell Russell Payne, age 87, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Russell was born on June 24, 1921 in Findlay, OH to Durwood and Ivy Payne. His mother died when he was very young and he and his oldest brother were raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Weigandt. After graduating from Findlay High School, Russell served in the Air Force during WWII and was stationed in Panama for five years. Russell worked as a commercial printer for Findlay Printing, White Printing, and Industrial Printing before retiring. He was a member of Home Acres Community Church currently Pathway Community Church where he served as Elder for many years and was also a Sunday School teacher. Russell married Jean Crittenden in 1946 and they shared more that 58 years together before she passed away in March of 2005. He is survived by niece, Evelyn McGown of Colorado and nephew, Jim Payne of Findlay, OH. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will follow at 12:00pm. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Community Church, 2160 Eastbrook, Toledo, OH or Hospice of Northwest Ohio- Toledo.
