Russell Lewis Krohn, Jr., 74, of Toledo peacefully passed on January 4, 2013. He exited this world as he lived, surrounded in love by his family. He was born November 3, 1938 in Toledo to the late Russell L. and Stella Koczarowski Krohn. A veteran of the United States Air Force he was stationed in Alaska at the time Alaska became a state. Russell began his career working for Jeep for 7 years, then went to work at General Motors Powertrain in Toledo for 30 years retiring in 2000. He enjoyed polka music, fixing cars, collecting coins, making jokes, going to the casino and playing cards, especially euchre with his late father-in-law. He was a member of UAW Local 14, Collingwood Damascus Lodge #643, the Zenobia Shrine and its Arab Patrol and the Maumee Senior Center. Russell was preceded in death by his son Russell L. Krohn III, infant daughter and sister Marcella Doak. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Nancy; daughter Jennifer Krohn; son Robert Amy Krohn; grandchildren Alex, Addie and Chris Krohn and Nick Gonia; sisters Beverly Snyder, Melva Barboza and Rose Robert Dunn; brothers Robert Darlene Krohn and Marvin Kathy Krohn; and a host of extended family members including nieces, nephews and in-laws whom he dearly loved. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 2-8 PM in the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Collingwood Damascus Lodge of F AM will conduct services Monday at 7:30 PM.
